Job summary
BWX Technologies, Inc. in Oak Ridge, TN is seeking a Gas Testing Engineer to coordinate cross-functional design, testing, and pilot-plant operations for gas centrifuge-based systems supporting uranium enrichment.
The role integrates hands-on gas testing, pilot plant management, systems engineering, and project leadership. The position requires a 7+ year background in design and testing, proficiency with Aspen Plus/HYSYS and MATLAB/Python, and the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Nuclear, related Engineering, or Physics.
- 7+ years of experience in system design, test engineering, and/or process development.
- Experience in gas processing, separation technologies, and precision gas testing environments.
Responsibilities
- Lead cross functional team coordination of schedules, budgets, scope, and resources.
- Review and approve engineering and testing documentation.
- Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and I&C for integrated design and testing.
- Develop and implement gas centrifuge testing protocols; analyze results to improve throughput and reliability.
- Manage pilot plant design, construction, and operations to validate new processes.
- Ensure interfaces across systems are cohesive and aligned with project goals.
