Job summary

BWX Technologies, Inc. in Oak Ridge, Tennessee is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for Test Stands & Processes to design, develop, and integrate mechanical test stands, process equipment, and systems for enrichment centrifuges in a DOE/NNSA high-security environment.

You will use SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and PDMLink; perform analyses; lead fabrication, assembly, testing, and documentation; and collaborate across engineering teams while supporting schedules and budgets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of mechanical design, test stand development, or industrial equipment experience.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and PDMLink.
• Knowledge of statics, dynamics, heat transfer, fluids, and strength analysis.
• Ability to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineering teams to design mechanical test stands and process equipment.
• Design and model mechanical systems, fixtures, and tooling in SolidWorks/AutoCAD/PDMLink.
• Develop functional and interface requirements for new designs.
• Lead fabrication, assembly, and integration of mechanical systems.
• Plan and execute component, subsystem, and system testing.
• Prepare BOMs and procurement packages.
• Create engineering documentation including P&IDs and test records.
• Support schedules, cost tracking, and compliance processes.
