Job summary

Oxy seeks an experienced Gas & Power Accountant in Houston, TX to manage pipeline and power payments, settlements invoicing, and timely fund flows. You will perform month-end close, analyze trading activity, and prepare GAAP-compliant journal entries while collaborating with the finance team.

Reporting to the Marketing Accounting Supervisor, this role requires handling large data sets, strong Excel skills, and the ability to coordinate with internal operations and external customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or 21 accounting hours with a business degree required.

Responsibilities

• Confirm monthly AR/AP invoices with customers/vendors and resolve discrepancies.
• Ensure counterparty settlements are reconciled and paid on time.
• Assist in customer disputes (pricing/volume).
• Reconcile intercompany volumes/pricing with trading systems and internal teams.
• Perform month-end closing procedures and timetabled reports.
• Analyze trading activity and explain month-over-month variances.
• Prepare journal entries in accordance with GAAP.
• Collaborate with financial analysis for balance sheet and margin tie-outs.
• Gather documents for audit requests for consolidated and stand-alone statements.
• Prepare intercompany reports and assist in system testing and updates.
