Job summary

ONEOK, Inc. in the United States seeks a Gas Pipeline Operations Technician to monitor, adjust and control flow of gas or natural gas liquids through the pipeline system using SCADA, ensuring safe, reliable and compliant operations across transmission, gathering, storage and processing.

Responsibilities include load forecasting, weather and system condition analysis, pressure/flow monitoring, report preparation, coordinating with field personnel and schedulers, and training staff in system

Qualifications

• Experience with pipeline control operations and SCADA systems.
• Ability to monitor pressures, volumes and control points.
• Familiar with Department of Transportation rules and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Utilize computers and SCADA displays to determine pressures and direct flow of natural gas and liquids through the pipeline system.
• Forecast load requirements using company approved models and weather/operating data.
• Analyze and resolve communication problems to minimize pressure reductions from line breaks or unusual events.
• Monitor gas/liquid quality and respond to changes as needed.
• Calculate receipts, deliveries, storage injections/withdrawals and pipeline load requirements.
• Prepare start/stop of receipt/delivery flows, storage actions, nominations, and related reports.
• Communicate information to field personnel, schedulers, and other pipeline controllers.
• Use the ONEOK Communication System for emergencies, conference calls and locates.
• Provide training to employees on system operations.
• DOT-related duties may apply; respond to hazardous conditions and follow safety precautions.
