Job summary

E2 Consulting Engineers, LP is seeking experienced Coating Inspectors to support gas pipeline construction and integrity projects across Illinois. You will verify field coatings, perform holiday testing, and ensure compliance with specifications and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities include daily inspection reporting, witnessing HDD pull-throughs, and inspecting pad, bedding, and joint protection products. Strong attention to detail and DOT/OSHA familiarity are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience inspecting natural gas pipeline construction projects.
• Hands-on experience inspecting field-applied pipeline coatings.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, alignment sheets, and valve maps.
• Familiarity with DOT 192 and OSHA regulations.
• AMPP CIP Level 1 certification (or equivalent).
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply Company procedures and specifications.
• Required Operator Qualifications (OQ) per contract documents.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in the field.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Inspect field coatings on pipe, fittings, valves, joints for compliance with Company procedures and coating manufacturer instructions.
• Perform coating inspections including holiday detection, mil thickness verification, hardness testing, and visual assessment.
• Witness HDD pull-throughs to verify proper pipe support and coating protection; examine leading edge for damage.
• Visually inspect pipe for coating defects before backfills, HDDs, and jack & bores; verify padding and rigging.
• Complete and submit daily inspection reports, coating inspection forms, and safety documents.
• Verify equipment calibration and environmental BMPs; communicate cost-saving and efficiency opportunities.
