Job summary

Aecon U.S. is seeking a Distribution Gas Fuser to join our energy infrastructure team. You will interpret drawings, fuse connections, and support safe, compliant installations across North American utility projects.

This unionized role requires ATCO/APEX Fusion ticket, CSTS-2020, Ground Disturbance II, and the ability to travel to project sites. We emphasize safety, teamwork, and adaptability across varying weather and site conditions.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Interpret construction drawings to ensure precise and effective project execution.
• Fuse all connections to meet client requirements and quality standards.
• Handle and distribute construction materials (loading/unloading, moving tools and materials).
• Execute pressure testing on main lines and submit required documentation.
• Work collaboratively with gas utility inspectors to maintain regulatory compliance.
• Maintain tools and equipment and ensure calibrations are up to code.
• Assist with training new gas fusion personnel.
• Work in all weather conditions and environments.

Our Energy operations consist of natural gas gathering systems, distribution services maintenance, facilities construction and water distribution. Gas distribution is the largest segment in the pipeline distribution portfolio, offering network design and construction or rehabilitation services for gas networks across Canada and United States.

Reporting to the appropriate Site Supervisor, the Distribution Gas Fuser will be responsible to ensure the achievement of general and specific project requirements.

Please note that this position is unionized, therefore it will be a requirement to join the union upon acceptance.

What You'll Do Here

• Interpret construction drawings to ensure precise and effective project execution.
• Fuse all connections to meet client requirements and quality standards.
• Handle and distribute construction materials (e.g. load and unload vehicles with supplies, equipment, and construction materials; move tools, equipment, and construction materials to and from work areas; remove rubble and other debris).
• Execute pressure testing on main lines and submit required documentation.
• Work collaboratively with gas utility inspectors to maintain regulatory compliance.
• Maintain tools and equipment and ensure all calibrations are up to code.
• Assist with training new gas fusion personnel.
• Perform repetitive movements.
• Operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Complete tasks that may vary daily depending on site requirements.
• Demonstrate flexibility to work extended hours when required.
• Lift and work with materials weighing up to 25 kg.
• Work in all weather conditions and environments.

• Experience working in a similar role within the industry.
• Valid ATCO or APEX Fusion Ticket.
• Experience in Distribution Natural Gas Utility installation.

• Ability to use stairs, ladders, and climb over rough terrain.
• Ability to work long hours per day, sometimes in rough weather conditions.

Additional Requirements

• Candidates will be required to complete a pre-employment Drug & Alcohol screen.

The expected pay range for this role is $33.34 USD per hour as per the current Collective Agreement.

Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
