Job summary

Black Hills Energy is seeking a Gas Operations Technician I, II, or Senior in Wichita, KS. The role involves safe maintenance of the gas distribution system, leak survey, odorization, and construction work, with pay ranges by level.

Level I–III roles require diverse field skills and strong safety practices. The position requires residency within 30 miles of the Wichita office, and offers a comprehensive benefits package and performance-based pay opportunities.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• Level II requires 2+ years in natural gas, construction, maintenance, or related experience.
• Senior requires 4+ years of natural gas, construction, maintenance, or related experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide recommendations on material type and size to meet load and pressure needs.
• Insure accurate location and installation of services, mains and meter sets.
• Perform underground line locating and leak repairs.
• Maintain gas measurement, pressure regulation and over‑pressure protection installations.
• Install facilities following trench/width, auguring, plowing and shoring specs.
• Perform hot line tapping and leak repair on mains and services.
• Conduct plastic fusion of mains and services and proper installation of fittings.
