Job summary

Black Hills Energy is seeking a Gas Operations Technician in Papillion, NE. You will perform general gas distribution system maintenance, operation, leak survey, odorization, CP and construction work. Compensation varies by level and is tied to experience and internal equity.

Levels include I, II, and Senior with hourly pay ranges from $25.72 to $48.41 depending on qualifications. Reporting to Gas Operations Supervisor, this on-site role offers a path for growth within a safety-focused utility

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required for Level I.
• Level II requires High School Diploma or equivalent and 2+ years in natural gas or related field.
• Senior requires High School Diploma or equivalent and 4+ years in natural gas or related field.

Responsibilities

• Provide recommendations on material type and size to meet load requirements and pressure.
• Ensure proper location and installation of facilities such as service lines, mains and meters.
• Proficient in underground line locating and leak classification/repair.
• Perform gas measurement, pressure regulation and overpressure protection installations.
• Install facilities per trench depth/width, auguring, plowing and shoring specs.
• Perform hot line tapping of mains/services and use correct equipment/procedures.
