Job summary

Southern Company Gas in Virginia Beach is seeking a Meter Helper to learn under 1st and 2nd Class Meter Repairmen and progress toward qualification. You will assist with installation, testing, calibration, and maintenance of gas measurement systems and document work using MV90 and Toughbook.

This union position offers a starting hourly rate of $25.46 and requires a high school diploma, basic technical knowledge, and the ability to pass the DOT physical.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Basic technical knowledge preferred.
• Ability to pass the DOT physical examination.
• Ability to work overtime as needed.
• Equivalent education and experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to safety policies and procedures; works with others to ensure safe, efficient operations.
• Operates equipment including field provers, differential testers and Toughbook devices.
• Maintains communication and follows instructions accurately.
• Performs data entry and documentation for work management.
• Supports inventory activities and general maintenance tasks.
