Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are looking for an Accounting Supervisor to oversee our residue gas accounting, including pipeline and gas marketing accounting. Allegro is our enterprise-wide Energy Trading & Risk Management ("ETRM") system for natural gas.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review and approve both routine and non-routine journal entries
    • Ensure journals are accurate and supported
  • Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations
    • Work with preparers to ensure reconciliations are performed timely, in a consistent manner, and with sufficient and accurate information
    • Work with preparers to ensure reconciling items are being cleared from reconciliations in a timely manner
  • Direct supervision of a staff of two accountants
  • Oversee resolution of issues with accruals such as duplicate accruals, rate/volume changes after payment, incorrect rates, etc.
  • Coordinate staff to ensure timely close of ETRM and financial systems
  • Oversee preparation of monthly and quarterly variance analysis
  • Interact with internal and external auditors and provide support as needed
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards, and prepare reports for management
  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance related field. Accounting degree is preferred.
  • 5-10 years progressive experience in gas marketing accounting
  • 1-3 years supervisory experience
  • Initiative and leadership in unstructured work environments, handling multiple job responsibilities, setting priorities, maintaining a high level of accomplishment, and implementing improvements to processes
  • Experience using an ETRM for daily accounting functions
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to listen carefully and use clear and concise oral and written skills to convey facts and present positions
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Can grasp complex business problems and formulate solutions
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with internal and external customers
  • Thrives in a fast paced, dynamic, high-performance culture with the ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments
  • Regular and reliable attendance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in residue gas accounting
  • Experience in Allegro and/or Oracle Financials Cloud
