Job summary

USIC in Wilmington, NC is seeking a Locator to determine gas line locations and mark sites while working outdoors in a company vehicle. No prior locating experience is required, as we provide a comprehensive training program and opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

• Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Available to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
• Travel locally during the business day; some out-of-area or overnight travel may be expected.
• Able to pass a drug screen (safety-sensitive position).
• Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
• Able to stand and walk for long periods; lift up to 75 lbs.
• Able to distinguish colors used to identify wiring and mark utilities.
• Proficiency with technology.
• Able to read, understand, and reference locate tickets, maps and prints; basic math skills.

Responsibilities

• Use locating equipment to determine the location of gas lines in a designated area and mark the area with paint and flags to prevent damage to utility infrastructure.
• Develop knowledge and understanding of underground utility infrastructure.
• Follow all company, client, state, and federal damage prevention guidelines.
• As a technician in our AGO division, you may locate other utilities in addition to gas lines, depending on the project.
