Job Overview

GridHawk LLC, The Premier Provider for Utility Services seeks to fill the position for our Leak Survey Department.

We are looking for a Leak Survey Technician who will predominantly work in the field, visiting various locations within a day’s work. The role requires organization, routing practices, and ability to work in adverse weather conditions year‑round across the Kansas City area. Responsibilities include disconnecting non‑payment of service, disconnecting service points, meter reads, meter removals, and any other assigned work the manager or customer requires.

All employees will be assigned proper technology and work vehicles in order to perform all work related duties. End‑to‑end tools provided include company vehicle, laptop, smartphone, uniforms, and all personal protective equipment.

Description

• Accurately detect and classify gas leaks while inspecting designated areas
• Locate and accurately assess the origin of damage and gas leaks
• Record and process effective data
• Complete required paperwork, notifications, and related documentation
• Utilize tools to effectively complete job tasks, including prints, maps, and past records
• Utilize locating tools, technology, and equipment
• Communicate effectively with Project Management
• Participate in daily check‑ins and complete reports as required
• Meet target completion deadlines

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED certificate (required)
• Valid driver’s license (required)
• No more than three moving violations within a rolling five‑year period (required)
• Satisfactory background screening (required)
• Negative DOT pre‑employment drug screen (required)

Essential Skills

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work smoothly with citizens, company, contractor representatives, and customers
• Knowledge and understanding of safe worksite practices
• Working within and utilizing existing utility standard designs
• Use and basic maintenance of industry standard locating equipment
• Experience using basic communication and tech devices

Physical Requirements

• Capable of moving around on construction work sites, public streets, and parkways
• Capable of lifting between 50–75 lbs
• Ability to stand, walk, kneel, or sit for extended periods
• Hand‑eye coordination necessary to operate computers and various measurement, locating and testing instruments

Work Environment

• Work safely outside in all weather conditions year‑round
• Occasional work in excavations, areas, and roadways
• Occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration

Hourly Pay

Varies based on experience.
