Job Overview
We are seeking to fill a position in the Leak Survey Department. The technician will predominantly be in the field, visiting various locations within a day’s work. They should be well organized and work year‑round in adverse weather conditions across the Kansas City area. They will complete ACI Inspections on indoor meters, disconnect non‑payment of service, disconnect service points, meter reads, meter removals, and any other work the manager or customer requires.

Responsibilities
- Accurately detect and classify gas leaks while inspecting designated areas
- Locate and accurately assess the origin of damage and gas leaks
- Record and process effective data
- Paperwork and notifications
- Utilize tools in order to effectively complete job tasks
- Use of prints, maps, and past records
- Utilize locating tools, technology, and equipment
- Effective communication with Project Management
- Daily check‑ins
- Completed reports
- Target completion
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED certificate (Required)
- Valid driver’s license (Required)
- No more than three moving violations within a rolling five‑year period (Required)
- Satisfactory background screening (Required)
- Negative DOT pre‑employment drug screen (Required)
Essential Skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work smoothly with citizens, company, contractor representatives, and customers
- Knowledge and understanding of safe worksite practices
- Working within and utilizing existing utility standard designs
- Use and basic maintenance of industry standard locating equipment
- Experience using basic communication and tech devices
Physical Requirements
- Capable of moving about on construction work sites, public streets and parkways
- Capable of lifting up to 50 or 75 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel or sit for extended periods
- Hand‑eye coordination necessary to operate computers and various measurement, locating and testing instruments
Work Environment
- Work safely outside in all weather conditions year‑round
- Occasionally work in excavation areas and roadways
- Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration
Schedule
- 10 hour shift
- 12 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- On call
- Weekends as needed

Hourly Pay: varies based on experience
