Job summary

South Jersey Industries (SJI) is seeking a field technician for construction and maintenance on our gas distribution infrastructure in New Jersey. The role requires lifting, weather endurance, and operation of power tools; a valid NJ driver’s license is mandatory with CDL preferred.

You will perform mains/services work, leak repairs, and routine equipment operation in a physically demanding environment. Hours are Monday–Friday with on-call rotations; overtime may be required during emergencies.

Qualifications

• Experience in construction work.
• Familiar with air tools and construction equipment.
• Valid NJ Driver's License.
• CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs construction and maintenance on distribution systems.
• Install mains and services.
• Repairs gas leaks.
• Pipe coating.
• Locating and mark-outs.
• Main/service deactivation and activation.
• Valve lubrication and maintenance.
• Plastic fusion.
• First response to gas leaks and emergencies.
• Complete all required paperwork.
• Operate a Kubota and Backhoe.
