Job summary

Alliant Energy is seeking a Gas Technician Apprentice/Journey level to maintain and install gas underground distribution systems and electric underground cables. This role may involve a staged progression from apprentice to journey level depending on qualifications.

The position requires completing the gas technician apprenticeship and passing the final qualification exam, plus a valid driver’s license; the ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License before the end of the trial period is

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
Completion of the gas technician apprenticeship and pass the final position qualification examination.
Valid driver's license with ability to obtain CDL before end of trial period.
Ability to work in a safety‑driven, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

Maintains and installs gas underground distribution systems.
Installs electric underground cable and meters as needed.
Trains employees in lower classifications for short periods on simple projects.
Locates gas and electric underground facilities and inspects work.
Performs pipe joining and ensures compliance with procedures and safety practices.
