Job summary

The position welcomes 3–5+ years of gas distribution or related drafting/design experience, with entry-level candidates possessing strong CAD skills considered. Remote flexibility is available on some days.

Qualifications

• Experience in gas distribution, utility design, or related drafting/design work.
• Proficient in CAD software: AutoCAD, Map 3D, Civil 3D or similar.
• Familiarity with CADWorx is a plus but not required.
• Ability to learn client-specific design platforms (DDS).
• Ability to perform field visits and translate conditions into design documents.
• Understanding of utility design standards and project documentation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare design drawings and construction-related documents for natural gas distribution projects.
• Interpret sketches, redlines, and client standards to develop accurate deliverables.
• Create design drawings using CAD software and DDS client platform.
• Support gas main replacements, new service installations, relocations, and upgrades.
• Conduct pre-design site visits to verify conditions and gather data.
• Review site proposals, surveys, and utility records to support design development.
• Develop detailed design drawings from general info and field docs.
• Ensure designs meet codes, standards, and safety expectations.
• Coordinate with PMs, engineers, utility reps, construction teams, and design staff.
• Assist with material takeoffs, permitting, and project documentation.
• Maintain CAD files, templates, and design models.
