Job summary

The City of Lexington is seeking a Gas Crew Leader to oversee skilled work in planning, coordinating, supervising, and performing installation, maintenance, and repair of natural gas distribution facilities. The role requires leadership and adherence to safety standards in a demanding outdoor environment.

The position includes on-call responsibilities, a structured work schedule, and excellent benefits as part of a municipal utility team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Six years of experience in construction, maintenance, and operations of a natural gas facility.
• Six months of supervisory experience required.
• Valid NC Class A CDL (or out-of-state CDL with transfer to NC in 60 days) and good driving record.
• Gas Line Fusion Certification.
• Completion of Natural Gas Career Development Program or Operator Qualification Plan.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, supervise, and participate in installation, maintenance, and repair of natural gas distribution facilities.
• Monitor safety and regulatory compliance during operations and maintenance activities.
• Lead work crews and coordinate scheduling; participate in on-call rotations when needed.
