Job summary

The City of Lexington is hiring a Gas Technician Apprentice I, II, or III to join its team of utility professionals. The role involves construction, installation, maintenance and repair of the City’s natural gas facilities. Training is available for entry-level candidates, with CDL transfer options as needed.

Typical schedule runs Monday-Thursday 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM or Tuesday-Friday 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM. The position offers excellent benefits and opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

• Valid NC driver’s license or valid out-of-state license with ability to obtain NC license within 60 days of employment and good driving record.
• Four years of experience in skilled gas utility work.
• CDL Class A license or ability to transfer to NC CDL within 60 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Construct, install, maintain and repair the City’s natural gas facilities.
• Perform semi-skilled and skilled gas utility work as part of the crew.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions and on-call rotations.
