NiSource is seeking a Console Operator to manage the Gas Control transmission and distribution system in Columbus, OH. You will balance supply and demand, monitor SCADA data, and coordinate with Field Operations to maintain safe, reliable service 24/7.
The role requires emergency response composure, strong communication, and adherence to PHMSA/CRM policies. Expect a 12-hour Panama-shift rotation, work during emergencies as needed, and a commute within 1 hour of the Arena office.
Perform duties effectively under normal, abnormal, and emergency situations according to department procedures and best practices, and implement emergency operating plans when required. Operate Gas Control transmission and distribution system ensuring safe and reliable service for customers. Responsible for documenting and adhering to PHMSA and CRM policy and procedures. Safely balance gas supply and demand by considering factors such as line pack, storage, supplier targets, system pressure and flow requirements. Troubleshoot system and alarm conditions utilizing Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) data and communicate with Field Operations personnel about abnormal findings. Escalate abnormal operating conditions to Shift Lead or designated leadership personnel in accordance with policies and procedures. Utilize 3-Way Communication to validate critical information shared with Field Operations and other Gas Control personnel. Work 12-hour shift rotations, following a Panama Schedule (2-2-3). Shifts rotate through 2 weeks on Day shifts then 2 weeks on Night shifts. Note that this schedule provides every other weekend off-duty. Work extended hours and varying shifts when necessary (during emergencies) within compliance of DOT Hours of Service (HOS) requirements. Operate in a professional manner; all communications and records are auditable by PHMSA and other regulatory agencies.

Salary Range*: $69,900.00 - $105,000.00 *The salary offered to a candidate is based on several factors including but not limited to the candidate’s skills, job-related knowledge, and relevant experience, as well as internal pay equity.
