Job summary

USA Compression Partners, LP is seeking a Field Service Technician to oversee safe operation, maintenance, and repair of natural gas compression equipment across an assigned territory. The role requires independent field work, timely response to call-outs, and ensuring uptime for midstream partners.

The FST will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on engines, compressors, and related components, while ensuring compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Solid professional communication/interface skills with customer field personnel and onsite vendors.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Mechanical aptitude with experience in engines, rotating equipment, or heavy machinery.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service bulletins.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to work independently in outdoor, remote, and sometimes harsh environments.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Must provide own small hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on natural gas compression equipment (engines, compressors, coolers, and components).
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation issues to minimize downtime.
• Conduct engine overhauls, compressor rebuilds, and component replacements as needed.
• Complete start-ups, shutdowns, and commissioning activities safely and efficiently.
• Monitor equipment performance and identify abnormal trends.
• Respond to call-outs and emergencies to restore functionality.
• Ensure compliance with USA Compression standards, OEM specs, and regulatory requirements.
• Submit accurate maintenance reports, expense reports, timesheets and paperwork daily.
• Maintain safety policies, participate in training and safety meetings.
• Coordinate with operations, logistics, and engineering teams for equipment needs.
• Maintain company tools, vehicles, and equipment in safe condition.
