Job summary

USA Compression is seeking a Field Service Technician to ensure safe, reliable operation, maintenance and repair of natural gas compression equipment within an assigned territory. The role involves independent work in remote field environments to maintain uptime for midstream partners.

Responsibilities include preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, engine overhauls, and commissioning. This position is 100% on-site with regular travel and requires strong customer communication

Qualifications

• Solid professional communication/interface skills with customer field personnel, onsite vendors, and other employees.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Mechanical aptitude with experience in engines, rotating equipment, or heavy machinery.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service bulletins.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to work independently in outdoor, remote, and sometimes harsh environments.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Must provide own small hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on natural gas compression equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation issues to minimize downtime.
• Conduct engine overhauls, compressor rebuilds, and component replacements as needed.
• Complete start‑ups, shutdowns, and commissioning activities safely and efficiently.
• Monitor equipment performance and operating conditions; identify and escalation abnormal trends.
• Respond to call‑outs and emergency situations to restore equipment functionality.
• Ensure all work is performed in compliance with standards and regulatory requirements.
• Submit maintenance reports, expense reports, timesheets and other paperwork daily.
