Job summary

USA Compression is seeking a Field Service Technician to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on natural gas compression equipment across an assigned territory. You’ll work independently in remote field environments to ensure uptime and safety, while delivering high-quality service to customers.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, engine overhauls, start-ups, and commissioning, with safety and regulatory compliance at the forefront.

Qualifications

• Solid professional communication/interface skills with customer field personnel, onsite vendors, and other employees.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Mechanical aptitude with experience in engines, rotating equipment, or heavy machinery.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service bulletins.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to work independently in outdoor, remote, and sometimes harsh environments.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Must provide own small hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on natural gas compression equipment, including engines, compressors, coolers, and components.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation issues to minimize downtime.
• Conduct engine overhauls, compressor rebuilds, and component replacements as needed.
• Complete start‑ups, shutdowns, and commissioning activities safely and efficiently.
• Monitor equipment performance and operating conditions; identify and elevate abnormal trends.
• Respond to call‑outs and emergency situations to restore equipment functionality.
• Ensure all work complies with standards, OEM specs, and regulatory requirements.
• Submit accurate maintenance reports, expense reports, timesheets and paperwork daily.
• Serve as the primary field contact for customers, providing professional communication and updates.
• Coordinate with operations, logistics, and engineering teams to support equipment needs.
• Maintain company tools, vehicles, and equipment in clean, safe condition.
