Job summary

TC Energy is seeking an Automation Engineer or Technologist to support the safe, reliable operation of control systems at compressor stations and related facilities. The role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving automation and control systems, working closely with field operations to diagnose issues and implement timely solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent program.
• Six or more years of related experience.
• Experience maintaining and troubleshooting electrical, instrumentation, automation, and control systems.
• Working knowledge of PLC and HMI platforms.
• Ability to interpret drawings, narratives, diagrams, and manuals.
• Strong analytical, diagnostic, and root-cause troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly to operations, engineering, vendors and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct technical support for maintaining and troubleshooting automation, electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.
• Diagnose malfunctions, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, networks, data-acquisition systems, and related equipment.
• Support inspection, testing, calibration, repair, and lifecycle management of components.
• Review alarms, configurations, and data to improve reliability.
• Coordinate software/configuration changes per change-management processes.
• Monitor performance and identify reliability risks and improvements.
• Provide guidance for operating, maintaining, and modifying compressor-station control systems.
• Support capital projects through design review, commissioning, and validation.
