Qualifications

• Garifuna and English fluency required.
• Minimum 2 years of professional interpreting experience.
• Experience in immigration/asylum contexts preferred.
• U.S. citizenship or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide real-time Garifuna-English telephonic interpretation for USCIS officers, applicants, and stakeholders.
• Interpret accurately, impartially, and with cultural sensitivity in immigration and asylum contexts.
• Maintain confidentiality under USCIS/DHS interpreter standards.
• Support both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge interpretation needs.
• Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance audits.
