Job summary

Allegheny County Department of Human Services is seeking a Gardening Team Coordinator to support the Braddock Youth Project (BYP) under the Office of Strategy and Planning. The role focuses on youth gardening activities, curriculum oversight, and coordination with AmeriCorps members and teens.

The incumbent will assist in providing access to services, developing workshops, and maintaining BYP spaces, while ensuring effective program delivery and community partnerships in Braddock.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work or related field, plus 1-2 years’ experience in youth programming, planning or administration.
• Experience working at least one full growing season in a gardening or farm operation; Master gardening certification strongly desired.
• Preferred: former participant in youth leadership, workforce development, mentoring, or service program.

Responsibilities

• Lead youth in planning and maintaining BYP gardening operations.
• Oversee gardening curriculum; plan workshops, enrichment activities and work schedules.
• Assist with supervising AmeriCorps members and teen participants.
• Help youth and families access immediate and long-term support services.
• Assist youth in obtaining vital documents needed for employment.
• Serve as program liaison with Braddock and North Braddock boroughs and land-use partners.
• Provide feedback (Straight Talk) to youth and edit feedback documents.
• Assist with BYP supplies procurement and transport.
• Help organize and deliver professional development workshops for BYP youth.
