Description

Position Title: Garden of Lights Attendant

Reports To: Guest Services Manager

Department: Guest Services

Status: Non-Exempt, Seasonal

SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Guest Services Manager, the Garden of Lights Attendant is primarily responsible for providing services to the visiting public and for activities associated with maintaining a friendly, secure, and informative environment during the annual Redding Garden of Lights holiday light show.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Greet visitors, collect entry fees accordingly, and maintain a visitor count.
  • Provide information to the public regarding the light show and park facilities.
  • Monitor activities within the light show to ensure the safety of guests, displays, plants, etc.
  • Manage a cash drawer, count and reconcile money, post amounts to daily balance sheet, and operate a POS and reconcile daily deposits.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly desk area and/or retail storefront.
  • Support answering the light show’s telephone line by referring calls to staff or voicemail and providing information to the public regarding the event and ticketing.
  • Assure park areas including buildings, gates, storage areas, restrooms and their contents and premises are secure, sanitary, and clean.
  • Lock/unlock front doors, turn on/off alarm systems and lights upon opening and closing.
  • Provide support to park events/meetings and assist with set up/takedown of tables, chairs, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • One (1) year of experience working with the public in a customer service environment desirable.
  • Experience working with point-of-sale cash register system or comfortable working in computer environment desirable.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Professional, outgoing communicator.
  • Able to greet and communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, and guests of all ages.
  • Able to multi-task (for example, interact with guests while watching over the store area or exhibit displays to minimize theft or damage).
  • Able to observe, recognize, and take action to correct potentially hazardous situations whether via actions by guests or problems with park equipment or displays.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • (Regular Full and Part-Time Staff excluding Temporary/Seasonal Staff) must possess a valid California driver’s license or be able to acquire within ten (10) days. Provide a clean DMV report.
