Irrigation Maintenance Technician

Public Grounds Department
Under general supervision, performs as a working lead responsible for the installation and maintenance of irrigation systems at City parks and facilities, right of way, and medians. This is accomplished by performing maintenance tasks that include inspecting, auditing, diagnosing and repairing irrigation systems. Incumbent is responsible for developing, and implementing irrigation system procedures and programs for the safe and efficient delivery of irrigation water.

Formal Education/ Knowledge
Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, or technical nature obtained through six-months/one year of advanced study or training past the high school equivalency. Community college, vocational, technical or correspondence school. Certification(s) may be awarded upon satisfactory completion of advanced study or training.
Experience
Minimum of Three (3) years of experience in the maintenance, operation or construction of landscape irrigation systems or related field.
Certifications and Other Requirements
Valid Driver’s License, maintain all certifications/licenses required at job entry. Must be certified in at least one of the following: Certified Backflow Inspector, Backflow Assembly Certification, Irrigation Auditor, Water Audit Certification, Smart Scape Landscape Certification.
Reading
