Job summary

We are seeking a hard-working Garage Shop Assistant to join the Xcel Energy team in Maple Grove, Minnesota. You will perform general vehicle and power-operated equipment maintenance and assist with unloading, washing, lubrication, parking, refueling, tire repair, and shop cleanup.

You may drive large trucks with trailers and perform power equipment tasks as directed. Successful applicants must have a High School Diploma or GED and meet the criteria listed: two years in fleet/vehicle environments

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Two years of experience in vehicle fleets, automotive or truck-related environments, or a Vo-Tech certificate.
• CDL Class A or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs, perform basic math, and read/write English.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

We anticipate the need for one or more Rotating Garage Shop Assistant Thereafter to be located at our Service Center in Maple Grove, MN. The starting rate of pay for this position will be $42.18 per hour. This position will be posted for 10 working days from August 6, 2026, to August 19, 2026.

Summary

We are looking for a hard-working Garage Shop Assistant to join the Xcel Energy team in Maple Grove, Minnesota! In this position, you will perform general vehicle and power-operated equipment maintenance. Other responsibilities include unloading, washing, lubrication, parking, outdoor refueling, tire repair, general shop cleanup, parts running, driving large trucks with trailers, and moving/operating power equipment, including other shop-related functions as directed by management.

Successful applicants must have a High School Diploma or GED and meet the following criteria:

• A minimum of two years of experience working in vehicle fleets, automotive or truck-related environments, or a Vo-Tech certificate in a mechanical-related field.
• Applicant must meet driver qualification requirements as specified in FMCSR parts 382 and 391 including the possession of a valid commercial driver's license (CDL Class A) or obtain within 6 months of employment.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. routinely, perform basic mathematics and read/write the English language.
• Must have the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
