Job summary

HELP Home Services is expanding its Garage Door Services Department and seeks a dependable Garage Door Technician. You will learn to conduct residential safety and operational inspections, perform basic maintenance, explain findings to homeowners, and identify upgrade opportunities as the new service line grows.

The role emphasizes hands-on technical skills, field work at residential locations, and collaboration with the sales/service teams to drive the new service line forward.

Qualifications

• Basic familiarity with hand and power tools and willingness to learn garage door systems.
• Strong customer service, communication, organization, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and accurately document inspection findings.
• Ability to work at residential locations, indoors and outdoors, and use ladders safely.

Responsibilities

• Inspect residential garage doors, openers, tracks, hardware, and related components for safety, operation, and maintenance concerns.
• Assess garage door function and document findings per procedures.
• Perform basic preventive maintenance and lubricate moving parts.
• Explain findings and service options to homeowners and recommend next steps.
• Identify repair or upgrade opportunities and coordinate referrals with the sales or service team.
• Provide pricing information within company guidelines and complete service records and notes.
• Meet standards for inspection quality, productivity, safety, documentation, and customer satisfaction.
• Support other department activities and help establish processes as the service line grows.
