Job summary

Compaan Door & Operator Co is actively seeking a skilled Installer to perform end-to-end installations for residential and commercial doors and openers. You will work from a company vehicle, often solo or with a partner, and ensure every job is tested, clean, and clearly explained to the customer.

The role emphasizes hands-on installation of sectional doors, high-lift/vertical-lift track systems, and docking equipment, with multiple site types and weather conditions in Michigan.

Qualifications

• 2+ years installing garage doors, overhead doors or similar mechanical trade work.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening.
• Able to lift 75+ lbs and work at heights on ladders and aerial lifts.

Responsibilities

Position Overview:

Compaan Door & Operator Co is hiring an Installer to put in new residential and commercial doors and openers, start to finish. On the residential side, that means sectional garage doors and smart openers in homes and new builds. On the commercial side, the focus is sectional doors, with rolling steel, fire-rated and high-speed doors and dock equipment as secondary work.

You will work from a company vehicle, alone or with a partner, and leave every job tested, clean and explained to the customer. Experienced installers and strong residential techs ready to learn commercial are both welcome to apply.

Responsibilities:

Residential

• Remove and haul away existing doors, springs and openers.
• Install sectional garage doors in steel, wood, composite, aluminum, fiberglass and vinyl, including insulated (R-9 to R-18) and carriage-house styles.
• Install and program LiftMaster, Linear and Genie openers, including Wi-Fi, keypads and battery backup.
• Set torsion and extension springs, cables, tracks, rollers and weather seal; balance and safety-test every door.

Commercial

• Install commercial sectional doors, the core of this role: steel and insulated sections, standard, high-lift and vertical-lift track, and heavy-duty torsion spring assemblies on openings up to 36 ft wide by 18 ft tall.
• Support installs of rolling steel, fire-rated and high-speed doors on commercial, industrial and municipal sites.
• Mount and wire commercial operators, controls, photo eyes and safety edges to manufacturer spec.
• Install dock seals, shelters, levelers and related loading dock equipment.
• Operate lifts and scissor lifts safely; follow site safety rules and general contractor

• Review the work order and measurements; verify the opening before starting
• Work safely on ladders ranging from 8 to 24 feet and operate scissor lifts and aerial work platforms up to 40 feet
• Maintain a professional appearance, provide excellent customer service, and communicate effectively with customers and team members
• Meet job standards: on-time arrivals, notes, photos, and same-day closeout
• Keep company vehicles, tools, and work areas clean, organized, and properly maintained
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
• Ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screening
• 2+ years installing garage doors, overhead doors or similar mechanical trade work
• Commercial sectional door experience, including high-lift or vertical-lift track and large spring assemblies; rolling steel, fire-rated or high-speed experience is a plus
• Working knowledge of torsion spring systems, tracks, cables and opener installation
• Able to lift 75+ lbs and work at heights on ladders and aerial lifts
• Comfortable working outdoors in all Michigan weather

Schedule:

• Standard Monday to Friday availability from 7 AM to 6 PM
• Ability to work weekends as needed
• Some emergency on-call after hours as needed
