Job summary

GameStop in Montoursville, PA is hiring an Assistant Store Manager to support the Store Manager in all aspects of store operations and sales leadership. You will supervise Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders, train staff, manage onboarding, scheduling, inventory, and daily cash controls while upholding company policies.

This role requires a high school diploma or equivalent; a retail management background is preferred and a passion for gaming is a plus.

Qualifications

• Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or accredited bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
• At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
• At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
• Video game knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests, respond to questions quickly and courteously; assist guests with gaming needs; inform guests of promotions; recommend items; wrap up transactions.
• Support the store environment and current sales initiatives to foster guest relationships and repeat business.
• Process guest purchases/returns using POS accurately; provide receipts and excellent service.
• Elevate customer issues to Store Manager when needed and follow up professionally.
• Promote GameStop benefits like reservations, trade-in, and Pro Rewards loyalty.
• Assist Store Manager with training and setting guest service expectations for staff.
• Observe performance and give timely feedback; document performance in HR system with Store Manager.
• Ensure onboarding, training, and compliance for associates before opening/closing shifts.
• Schedule staff to meet guest service goals and maintain coverage for peak times.
• Approve payroll, manage PTO, and verify time worked.
• Maintain clean, organized store and ensure all fixtures work; monitor inventory and security.
• Fulfill Omni-Channel orders daily.
• Protect assets with loss prevention practices and proper cash handling.
