Job summary

CyberCoders in Austin, TX is seeking an Engineering Manager for Technical Partner Management to lead a team of Technical Leads overseeing external development partners and ensure high-quality work. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will bridge external studios with internal Production, QA, and Engineering teams.

This role requires strong leadership, hands-on C++ software architecture experience, and a proven ability to manage vendor relationships in game development environments.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience managing, mentoring, and developing engineers or technical leaders.
• 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, including architecture and code reviews.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Strong professional experience with C++ development and software architecture.
• Proven ability to evaluate complex codebases and identify technical risks.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with cross-organizational influence.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of Technical Leads overseeing external development partners.
• Coach on technical auditing, partner communication, risk assessment, and relationship management.
• Conduct regular 1:1s, provide performance feedback, and support career development.
• Foster a culture of technical excellence, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Own external partner technical oversight; ensure architecture, code quality, builds, and milestones meet standards.
• Establish and maintain review processes for code quality, architecture, builds, risks, and milestone readiness.
• Create scalable frameworks and best practices for evaluating partner performance and technical health.
• Serve as trusted advisor and escalation point for technical and partner challenges.
• Review external partner architectures and roadmaps to identify risks and debt.
• Guide Technical Leads in audits of third-party codebases and engineering processes.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify issues early and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure clear, professional communication of technical concerns to internal teams and partners.
• Collaborate with Production, QA, and Head of Engineering on plans, quality standards, and strategies.
• Establish regular partner review cadences including architecture and code reviews.
