Job summary

The City of Moses Lake is seeking a Sports Official/Referee to officiate basketball, volleyball, and other sports events. You will stand, walk, and run for extended periods, communicate with players and spectators, and resolve conflicts with fair, decisive calls.

Candidates should be energetic, able to work weekends and evenings, and pass a background check. This seasonal role focuses on public events within Moses Lake and surrounding facilities.

Qualifications

• Experience as basketball or volleyball player/referee is highly desirable.
• Experience playing or refereeing other sports is highly desirable.
• Experience interacting with the public is highly desirable.
• All applicants must be able to pass a background check including reference and criminal history checks.

Responsibilities

• Efficiently and accurately officiate and referee sporting events.
• Stand, walk, and run for the duration of the game.
• Communicate thoroughly with players and fans when needed.
• Prevent potential conflicts that may arise during events.
• Make quick, fair decisions during play.
• Perform additional related duties as assigned.
