Job summary

The County of Galveston is seeking a Telecommunicator to join the communications center and support high-volume information and emergency processing. The role includes evaluating requests, initiating responses, and maintaining sensitive data across multiple databases.

Must possess a High School diploma or GED and complete a one-year probation. Telecommunicator Basic Proficiency Certificate from TCOLE is required. Equal opportunity employer services are provided.

• Enters critical and confidential law enforcement data into TCIC and NCIC databases.
• Assists in the training of new personnel.
• Assists in the maintenance of the communications center.
• Performs related work as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

• Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.

Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even while precautions have been taken.

The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table.

The work is typically performed in a communications center answering a high volume of incoming telephone and radio calls.
