Job summary

Valmont Industries in Claremore, OK is seeking a General Shop Help for 1st & 2nd shifts. You will prepare products for galvanizing by hanging, staging and prepping parts, while following safety procedures in an open-air environment.

Responsibilities include inspecting fixtures, wiring parts to racks, moving steel, and using hand tools and air-powered devices. Prior experience in galvanizing is a plus; strong safety awareness is essential.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to accurately read a tape measure.
• Ability to communicate problems or needs to supervision.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds from ground to shoulder height or higher.
• Must stand for long periods in open air environment; wear PPE; maintain safety.
• Strong safety awareness at all times.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and ensure safe use of fixtures, chains and hooks.
• Hand wire small to mid-size parts to racks for pickling or galvanizing.
• Pull and place chains and ropes around steel bundles for racking.
• Move lightweight pieces of steel by hand within plant and yard.
• Paddling to enhance product quality using air guns to remove zinc needles.
• Use air or electric tools to prep or clean steel for processing.
• Assist in general plant cleanup and housekeeping.
• Work safely and protect self and others from accidents.
