Job summary

Colby College Museum of Art seeks a part-time Downtown Gallery Assistant to welcome visitors at the Schmaltz Gallery and support programs in the Schupf Art Center. You will handle front-desk duties, assist with logistics for exhibitions and events, and help ensure safety procedures are followed during gallery operations.

The role requires flexibility for weekends and evenings and strong organizational and communication skills to coordinate with learning and engagement staff and security

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; professional coursework a plus.
• Three or more years of administrative or engagement experience preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Office and Google Workspace; ability to learn new tools quickly.

Responsibilities

• Greet visitors and provide excellent customer service related to exhibitions and programs.
• Monitor gallery activity and enforce museum protocols and safety policies.
• Coordinate logistics for downtown programs, workshops, and events, including evenings and weekends.
• Prepare incident reports and communicate with staff to resolve issues.
• Support engagement team with administrative tasks and office supplies management.
