Job summary

The Colby College Museum of Art seeks a Downtown Gallery Assistant to provide a welcoming presence in the Schmaltz Gallery, and to support logistics, events, and administrative tasks in downtown Waterville, Maine.

You'll work up to 20 hours per week, including weekends and evenings, collaborating with the Learning and Engagement team and security staff to ensure a safe, engaging visitor experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Three or more years of professional experience.
• Engagement and/or administrative experience preferred.
• Comfortable with Microsoft Office and Google Suite and learning new tools.

Responsibilities

• Welcome visitors and provide customer service in the gallery.
• Monitor gallery activity and enforce museum protocols.
• Coordinate with building manager and security for smooth operations.
• Support programs and events, including evenings and weekends.
• Assist with logistics for public and academic programs.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Three or more years of professional experience

Engagement and/or administrative experience preferred

Proactive, detail-oriented, and adaptable

Proficiency with MS Office and Google Suite
