Job summary

Seattle University Behnke Family Gallery is seeking a Gallery Preparator Coordinator for Cornish College of the Arts at Seattle University. The role supports installation and deinstallation of exhibitions and ensures artwork safety, with additional duties assisting the Gallery Curator and coordinating events.

The position is 9-month, 20 hours per week, onsite in Seattle, with compensation at $28.00–$32.00 per hour and comprehensive benefits. Hybrid eligibility may apply after onboarding.

Qualifications

College graduate or equivalent.
One or more years of experience in object handling and exhibition installation, preferably in museums or galleries, studio arts, cabinetmaking, metal work, art installation, or any combination of the above.

Responsibilities

Art handling: moving and storing artworks safely.
Exhibition installation: packing/unpacking crates, installing/de-installing exhibitions, and lighting setup.
Maintenance: cleaning and minor repairs of gallery spaces.
Fabrication: build frames, crates, plinths, mounts, and other items.
Collaborate with artists, curator, director, and staff to schedule installs.
