Job summary

Sotheby’s seeks a client‑services oriented Exhibition Staff member to uphold an exceptional in‑person client experience at the New York galleries. You will liaise with clients and specialists, relay exhibition information, and ensure premier service across lobby, coat check and exhibition floors.

The role requires strong communication, discretion, and a service mindset; weekend/evening availability is expected in a luxury hospitality environment.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a client‑service mindset.
• Problem solving and resourcefulness in dynamic luxury/hospitality settings.
• Team player able to collaborate across front-of-house teams.
• Maintains composure and poise in time‑sensitive situations.
• Discretion handling sensitive information in a premium environment.
• Experience in client service, luxury or hospitality industries preferred.
• Tech‑savvy with comfort using modern gallery/front‑of‑house tools.
• Knowledge of art history or art market is a plus.
• Foreign language skills are advantageous.
• Available to work weekends and evenings as required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Brand Ambassador, delivering warm, hospitable service to current and prospective clients.
• Support premier in‑person experiences across all front‑of‑house spaces.
• Direct visitor flow, manage check‑in, queues and elevator access as needed.
• Assist clients with inquiries using knowledge of exhibition calendars and staff locations.
• Coordinate with Specialists and Departments to meet client needs.
• Maintain accounts and facilitate bid registrations for exhibitions and sales.
• Communicate the auction process clearly to existing and potential clients.
• Participate in ad hoc projects and maintain required front‑of‑house attire.
