Capstone On-Campus Management (COCM) is seeking a Financial Reporting Accountant to join our Birmingham/ Vestavia Hills team. The role applies cash and accrual accounting to prepare, analyze, maintain, and deliver accurate financial reports for a portfolio of student housing properties, including regulatory and internal/external reports.

The team of six financial reporting accountants collaborates across departments; the successful candidate will ensure GAAP compliance, perform monthly close,

Competenze

• Requires knowledge of GAAP and FASB regulations with advanced financial terminology and methods.
• CPA certification strongly preferred.
• Three to five years of accounting and/or auditing experience.
• Ability to research and resolve accounting issues.
• Working knowledge of automated accounting systems and Excel.
• Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Mansioni

• Prepare monthly and annual GAAP-based financial statements.
• Provide guidance on accounting treatment or reporting questions across departments.
• Review transactions and provide accounting support.
• Prepare general ledger reconciliations.
• Monitor budget-to-actual variances monthly.
• Assist with accounting and reporting research projects.
• Support site management staff with financial knowledge.
• Provide monthly and year-end site reconciliations and closings.
• Coordinate for and support of third-party auditors.
• Maintain fixed asset ledgers and depreciation calculations.
• Analyze profitability, capital expenditures, and budget performance.
• Perform additional accounting tasks as assigned.
