Job summary

KACE Company is seeking a Linguist for Fuzhou to support real-time and recorded transcription for law enforcement efforts. This as-needed, part-time role involves producing accurate, court-ready written products and decoding slang in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include transcribing calls, maintaining slang/code lists, operating government-provided tools, and ensuring timely communication with law enforcement personnel. Travel to client sites in the U.S. is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one year translation experience in the required language.
• Knowledge of Fuzhou colloquialisms, slang terms, and regional expressions.
• Familiarity with SMS shorthand and web chat communications.
• Must type 45 words per minute.

Responsibilities

• Listen to live or recorded communications in Fuzhou and produce verbal and written synopses and transcriptions.
• Communicate pertinent information to the Client (law enforcement personnel) in a timely manner.
• Build and maintain a master list of slang terms and codes used by a group for the project duration.
• Create and maintain a voice library for the project.
• Transcribe and translate pertinent calls and documents as assigned by the supervisor.
• Produce court-ready transcriptions in the required format.
• Use project reference tools to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Transcribe a minimum of 16 minutes per 8-hour day.
• Operate government-provided software and equipment (e.g., JSI voice box, Pen-link).
• Maintain a daily productivity log as per project requirements.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
