Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in staffing, inventory, merchandising and cash controls, with emphasis on customer service and leadership. This role prepares for a Store Manager position through hands-on store operations experience.

Located in a fast-paced retail environment, you will help supervise associates, oversee open/close procedures, and ensure compliance with company policies and safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of retail experience preferred for external candidates.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by staging, stocking and pricing merchandise.
• Assist in inventory management, including damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork and controls.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Act as a role model by following company procedures and policies.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of company funds at the bank.
• Assist in maintaining cashier accountability and cash control procedures.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and a safe environment.
• Operate store in store manager’s absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation on time.
