Job summary

J & J Air in North Myrtle Beach, SC is seeking an HVAC Apprentice to learn from seasoned professionals while supporting install and service teams on residential and light commercial projects along the Grand Strand.

The role emphasizes hands-on training, safety, teamwork, and opportunities for advancement. A EPA refrigerant license (or current enrollment in an HVAC program) is preferred, with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum EPA refrigerant license class 1 and 2 and/or current enrollment in an accredited HVACC degree program.
• Basic understanding of HVAC system installation, maintenance and components.
• Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various weather conditions.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Strong willingness to learn and a positive attitude.
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
• Previous experience in a related field is a plus but not required.
• Must be reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Support install and service crew in residential and light commercial settings.
• Assist lead installers with installing air handlers, condensers, package equipment, ductwork, refrigerant tubing and related components; make high/low voltage connections.
• Assist service technicians with system start‑up and commissioning, including verifying refrigerant charge, CFM settings and temperature difference.
• Perform maintenance of residential and light commercial HVAC systems.
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
• Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
• Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge.
• Document service calls and maintain accurate records of work performed.
• Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with clients.
• Support team members in various tasks and projects as needed.
