Job summary

Xcimer Energy in Denver, CO is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, analyze, build and operate laser‑driven mechanical systems central to our excimer‑laser IFE technology. You will create 3D models, detail drawings, assemblies and interfaces, design structures and pressure vessels, and support prototyping, testing and documentation.

Qualifications include a BS in Mechanical, Nuclear or Aerospace Engineering, 3–5 years in industrial equipment design, NX CAD proficiency, and U.S.

Qualifications

• S. in Mechanical, Nuclear, or Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
• 3–5 years in mechanical engineering, focusing on industrial equipment design.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software (NX preferred).
• Experience delivering design projects from concept to qualification.
• Strong problem-solving and hands-on troubleshooting skills.
• Interdisciplinary engineering experience is a plus.
• S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or eligible for work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Create 3D models, detail part drawings, assemblies, P&IDs and interface control documents.
• Design structures and pressure vessels; perform proof-testing to code standards.
• Communicate and document design with cross‑functional teams (mechanical, systems, laser, optical, manufacturing).
• Support procurement of hardware for prototype laser amplifiers and conditioning equipment.
• Oversee and assist assembly by interdisciplinary technicians; support ongoing operation of equipment.
• Participate in concept studies for laser use in IFE reactor and other applications.
• Contribute to work instructions, test plans, specifications and documentation for system integration.
• Provide manufacturing and production support and first-time engineering builds.
• Participate in design reviews and help streamline engineering processes.
• Collaborate with teams selecting materials, processes and suppliers to produce world‑class hardware.
