This is a skilled labor position that is directly responsible for becoming certified and proficient in performing various types of fusion of components for Plastics Fabrication Department.
Primary Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Required to understand and follow all safety procedures.
- Required to understand and follow all company policies and procedures at all times.
- Required to understand and follow work procedures as set forth by all ISO, ASTM, and DOT documentation.
- Required to meet or exceed production standards of all work centers daily.
- Read and interpret blueprints whenever required by operation.
- Required to maintain quality standards on all products daily including in process testing log sheets.
- Required to be certified to perform fusion on various diameters and SDRs of PE Pipe and fittings. Fusions include any combination of at least two Fusion Fabrication Technician 1 certifications as well as hydraulic butt fusion and/or sidewall fusion. Required to pass annual fusion re-certification examinations in order to remain qualified for this position.
- Assemble components as required by work instructions and SOPs.
- Must be able to verify that all fusion equipment is in good condition and performing as designed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Clean, label and box products in department as needed.
- Support and participate in the overall EH&S programs.
- Responsible to maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
- Requires regular attendance per the GFCP Attendance Policy and the schedule assigned by supervisor.
- Adhere to ISO 9001 Quality, ISO 14001 Environmental, and OHSAS 18001 certification requirements.
Knowledge and Skill Requirement:
This position should possess the following skills/knowledge:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Thorough, accurate, and works error free.
- Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures within manufacturing environment.
- Able to select the proper component parts required for a work center.
- Required to become certified in any combination of at least two certifications for Fusion Fabrication Technician 1 as well as hydraulic butt fusion and/or sidewall fusion.
- At least 60 days of hydraulic butt fusion or sidewall fusion experience.
- Advanced knowledge of all fusion machines in the department.
- Must be able to understand and utilize measurement tools that are specific to that area or product.
- Must maintain good attendance record and employment in good standing (no final warning or suspension)
- May not have 3 or more non-conformances during a rolling 12 month period to qualify for this role.
Environmental / Atmospheric Conditions:
- Typical office/factory environment with possibility of exposure to heat in production areas.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. in a safe manner.
- Must be able to perform repetitive motion. Examples: walking, reaching, bending, twisting, stooping, pushing, pulling, and standing for extended periods of time.
- Clarity of vision and the ability to focus on a fast and repetitious operation for extended period of time.
- Exposure to machine noise levels (hearing protection required).
- Exposure to heavy equipment or components needed to produce product (safety toed shoes required).
- Exposure to electrical and mechanical moving parts.
- Exposure to sparks, chips and dust (eye protection required).
- Exposure to extreme seasonal temperature conditions.
- Must be capable of maintaining a 40-hour workweek and working overtime as needed.
This position is considered a safety sensitive position as defined by Oklahoma House Bill 2612 in relation to the legalization of medical marijuana in the state of Oklahoma.
