This is a skilled labor position responsible for becoming certified and proficient in various fusion techniques for the Plastics Fabrication Department.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Understand and follow all safety procedures.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures at all times.
- Follow work procedures as set by ISO, ASTM, and DOT documentation.
- Meet or exceed daily production standards.
- Read and interpret blueprints as required.
- Maintain quality standards and document in-process testing.
- Become certified in fusion techniques for various diameters and SDRs of PE Pipe and fittings, including hydraulic butt fusion and sidewall fusion, and pass annual re-certifications.
- Assemble components per work instructions and SOPs.
- Verify equipment functionality and condition.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Clean, label, and package products as needed.
- Support EH&S programs and maintain a safe work environment.
- Maintain regular attendance per policies.
- Comply with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001 standards.
Knowledge and Skills:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Accurate, error-free work ethic.
- Knowledge of manufacturing concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Ability to select proper component parts.
- Certification in at least two fusion techniques, with experience in hydraulic butt or sidewall fusion.
- Minimum 60 days of fusion experience.
- Advanced knowledge of fusion machines.
- Ability to use measurement tools specific to the area or product.
- Good attendance and employment record.
- Maintain fewer than three non-conformances in a rolling 12 months.
Environmental and Physical Conditions:
- Typical factory environment with potential heat exposure.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
- Lift up to 50 lbs safely.
- Perform repetitive motions: walking, reaching, bending, twisting, stooping, pushing, pulling, standing.
- Good vision and focus for extended periods.
- Exposure to noise, heavy equipment, electrical/mechanical parts, sparks, dust, and extreme temperatures, with appropriate PPE.
- Capable of working 40 hours/week, with overtime as needed.
