Job summary

Living Spaces in Arizona is seeking a skilled Furniture Repair Technician to restore damaged merchandise and ensure shipments are accurate. You may work in the shop or on the dock, following SOPs to repair upholstery, wood, leather, and veneer, and to refurbish goods to first quality.

Responsibilities include identifying repair needs, maintaining inventory, ordering parts, training others, adhering to OSHA, and meeting safety standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; 2+ years experience with upholstery, fabrics, wood furniture, leather, and veneer finishes.
• Able to use necessary tools and equipment.
• Strong working knowledge of leather repairs and wood repairs (scratches, dents, splits).

Responsibilities

• Identify repair needed and follow SOPs to repair.
• Maintain inventory and stock levels for repair kits/tools.
• Repair upholstered products: stitching, panel replacements, mechanism/spring repair, frame repairs, buttons, and other components.
• Repair wood products: burn-ins, color matching, panel replacement, drawer/door/glide adjustments.
• Refurbish furniture to 1st quality and finish goods.
• Evaluate damages and select repair methods for wood, leather, fabric and upholstery.
• Order replacement parts as needed.
• Communicate maintenance of tools, parts and hardware.
• Ensure appropriate disposition of damaged product.
• Contribute to quality and performance improvements; meet KPI targets.
• Train other technicians on advanced repair techniques.
• Assist team to meet goals and ensure smooth department operation.
• Comply with OSHA standards and promote safety.
• Maintain clean warehouse floor free from debris.
• Meet company productivity standards.
• Flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.

Position Summary

Ensure satisfaction to customers by restoring merchandise that has been damaged or manufacturer defects. Will work inside the shop or on the dock ensuring outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage.

Position Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Identify repair needed and follow standard operating procedures to repair based upon the need
• Maintain inventory and stock levels for all repair furniture kits/tools
• Repair upholstered products stitching, panel replacements mechanism/spring repair or replacements, frame repairs buttons, as well as other components
• Repair wood products, burn ins, color matching, panel replacement, adjustment of drawers, doors, glides as well as other components
• Perform daily tasks refurbishing furniture to 1st quality and the finishing of goods
• Evaluate damages and select appropriate methods of repair and/or restoration for wood furniture, leather, fabric, and upholstery
• Order replacement parts as needed
• Communicate any maintenance of tools, parts and hardware needed
• Ensure appropriate disposition of damaged product
• Contribute to improvement efforts within quality and performance measures as well as targeted levels
• Train other technicians on special and advanced repair techniques
• Assist team as needed to meet goals and ensure the smooth operation of the department
• Conducts operations in compliance with OSHA standards
• Conducts operations in a manner that promotes safety
• Maintains a clean free from debris warehouse floor
• Meet company standards for productivity
• Must be available to work a flexible schedule, weekends and holidays
• Knowledge and ability to repair wood products, burn ins, color matching, panel replacement, adjustment of drawers, doors, glides as well as other components
• Clear understanding and experience with Dock Preparation, assembly and staging products.
• Experience with items that require assembly, which includes all dining chairs, occasional tables and understanding non assembled items such as beds, dining room tables and youth groups.
• Have a clear perceptive to identify damage and defects with red tape and item issues missing parts.

LS1A

Education/Experience: High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Minimum 2 years experience working with upholstery, an array of fabrics, wood furniture, leather and veneer finishes. Able to use necessary tools and equipment. Strong working knowledge of leather repairs, wood repairs including scratches, dents and splits. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have experience in Microsoft Office programs.

Position Hiring Range

The hiring pay range provides a good faith estimate of the salary or hourly wage that Living Spaces expects to pay for the position upon hire. Pay will be determined by several factors, including, but not limited to: applicant's education, relevant work experience, knowledge, applicable and relevant skills and abilities, market demand, Company budget, as well as internal equity and alignment with geographic market data. Living Spaces reserves the right to modify this page at any time.

Compensation: $20.80 - $27.00

Overtime pay is available for eligible, non-exempt Team Members.Reimbursement for expenses as required by applicable law and Company policy. Retail, Guest Services and Distribution Center Team Members are eligible to receive team bonus based on meeting specific goals and KPI's.
