Job summary

Surface Experts is expanding its local team and seeks a field technician who enjoys hands-on repairs and carpentry. You will help repair furniture, work on-site, and provide excellent customer service to diverse clients such as property managers, hotels, and movers.

Experience in furniture making or repairing, plus a background in carpentry or fine woodworking, is preferred. Training and supportive mentorship are offered in a small, local team environment.

Qualifications

• Experience making or repairing furniture.
• Background in carpentry or fine woodworking.
• Understanding finishes such as lacquer, varnishes, oils is helpful.
• Willingness to commit to learning a skill that may take months to master.

Responsibilities

• On-site for 4+ customers per day.
• On-site work orders, customer service, and follow-ups.
• Work with diverse customers including Property Management, Hotels, Movers, Builders.
• Provide world-class customer service to tenants and property management staff.
• Track progress in CRM/Dispatch tool and communicate with support team.
• Follow the 5-step repair process and use our tool-kit.

Job Duties And Responsibilities

In the Field Daily

• On the jobsite for 4+ customers per day
• On-site Work Orders, customer service, and follow-ups
• Working for a variety of customers in different industries including Property Management, Hotels, Movers, Builders, etc.

Customer Service and Communication

• Display world-class customer service for tenants and property management staff
• Track work progress and notes in our CRM/Dispatch tool
• Communicate with support team with questions

Follow Repair Process

• Understand and utilize our unique 5-step repair process
• Employ each tool in your custom tool-kit
• Problem-solve repairs with creativity

We are looking for someone who has experience in making or repairing furniture. You will use your background in carpentry or fine woodworking. Having a good understanding of the different finishes such as lacquer, varnishes, oils and blends is very helpful when assessing how to repair a damaged piece of furniture.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with your hands - This could be in construction, manufacturing, painting, or even a personal hobby
• Experience working in facilities maintenance can be a big plus, but is not required
• An ability to identify, compare, and recreate colors - Understanding color and how to match color is a large part of what we do. An art background is helpful, but not necessary.
• Willingness to commit to learning a skill that may take months to master.
