Job summary

Surface Experts is hiring a technician in Tampa, Florida to perform furniture repairs and provide exceptional customer service. You will be on-site for multiple clients daily, solving problems and utilizing a custom tool-kit.

The ideal candidate has experience in carpentry or fine woodworking, understands color matching, and is willing to learn a new trade. The position offers a performance-based bonus, flexible schedule, and strong support.

Qualifications

• Experience working with hands in carpentry or fine woodworking is essential.
• Understanding of various finishes such as lacquer and varnishes is helpful.
• Willingness to learn a new skill that may take months to master.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

In the Field Daily

• On the jobsite for 4+ customers per day
• On‑site Work Orders, customer service, and follow‑ups
• Working for a variety of customers in different industries including Property Management, Hotels, Movers, Builders, etc.

Customer Service and Communication

• Display world‑class customer service for tenants and property management staff
• Track work progress and notes in our CRM/Dispatch tool
• Communicate with support team with questions

Follow Repair Process

• Understand and utilize our unique 5‑step repair process
• Employ each tool in your custom tool‑kit
• Problem‑solve repairs with creativity

We are looking for someone who has experience in making or repairing furniture. You will use your background in carpentry or fine woodworking. Having a good understanding of the different finishes such as lacquer, varnishes, oils and blends is very helpful when assessing how to repair a damaged piece of furniture.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with your hands – This could be in construction, manufacturing, painting, or even a personal hobby
• Experience working in facilities maintenance can be a big plus, but is not required
• An ability to identify, compare, and recreate colors – Understanding color and how to match color is a large part of what we do. An art background is helpful, but not necessary.
• Willingness to commit to learning a skill that may take months to master
