Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Pueblo, CO is seeking a Furnace Deck Operator I to begin with furnace preparation, load building, and process readings, with on-the-job training aimed at advancing to Operator II. The role is onsite in a 4-on/4-off, 12-hour shift schedule, with built-in overtime and shift differential.

As part of the Advanced Structures team, you will handle carbonization, densification, and heat-treating processes while upholding safety standards and lean manufacturing principles.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent (US) or vocational/technical education.
• Experience using hand tools.
• Industrial experience preferred.
• Ability to operate department equipment including but not limited to: overhead cranes, pneumatic devices, vacuum equipment, fork trucks, hand trucks, optical pyrometers and hand tools.
• Basic understanding of mathematics and PC skills.
• Willingness to work a 4-day/12-hr shift, days and nights required.

Responsibilities

• Provide process integrity and maintain process quality for all furnace process operations.
• Perform all engineering instruction for all department processes including carbonization, densification and heat-treating processes.
• Follow environmental, health and safety standards and procedures while performing daily duties; identify safety hazards and improve safety.
• Demonstrate understanding and implementation of BBS (Behavior Based Safety).
• Utilize Lean Manufacturing tools such as KAS, 5S, TPM and other continuous process improvement tools.
• Monitor metrics in the work area and take action when trends indicate issues.
